Physicists find out how many times to reduce the charging time of conventional lithium-ion accumulator

Physicists have proposed a new way to charge lithium-ion batteries, which can significantly reduce the need for the process time. Article scientists have not yet accepted for publication, but its preprint available at arXiv.org.

The work of researchers built a computer model of the processes occurring inside a regular battery. Thus, the graphite anode was presented to 160 atoms, organized in four superposed graphene sheet, and the electrolyte in the battery consisted of 156 molecules. In addition, the model attended a few hexafluorophosphate ion and lithium.

When charging the battery, lithium ions fall on the graphite anode. Scientists have found that if during the charging process in a special way to add an oscillating electric field to mainly by charging the battery, the charging time significantly reduced. Moreover, the dependence of the parameters of the additional field is exponential, that is, the charging time can be reduced at times.

In this case the researchers themselves find it difficult to answer the question: How will a new way to charge the batteries on the parameters, such as storage time and number of charge cycles.

More recently, scientists have created a special paint that will turn ordinary fabric into flexible thin battery. This fabric is necessary to process a special dye on the basis of carbon nanotubes.
