U.S. Air Force began to pay extra for the knowledge of Russian, Chechen and other languages of Russia and the former USSR

For knowledge of Russian and Chechen languages in the Army Air Force United States began to pay extra $ 500 a month. Moreover, according to Lt. Col. Paul Valenzuela, responsible for implementing the program of language training and regional studies at the Air Force, the allowance can get absolutely all soldiers, not only those whose duties require proficiency in foreign languages, for example interpreters or scouts.

As stressed by Valenzuela, directing the Ministry of Defense has concluded that implementation of the various missions abroad depends largely on the ability of soldiers to communicate in the language of the inhabitants of the country where the operation is conducted, ITAR-TASS reported.

“We are talking about the human aspect of the mission - he said. - To be successful, it is important to understand the customs and culture of these people and speak their language.”

According to lieutenant colonel in the Air Force currently has about 4,3 thousand people receive language allowance - an average of $ 500 per month. Provides for a maximum fee of thousands of dollars for the knowledge of two languages. Each year the need to retake the examination.

Over 100 languages divided into three categories. The first - “imperative” - are featured, in particular, Russian, Chinese, Arabic, French, Korean, Portuguese, Turkish, Turkmen, Pashto, Dari, farsi.

The second - “the languages required in cases of crises, potential threats” - Georgian, Azerbaijani, Kazakh, Uzbek, Serbo-Croatian, Hebrew, Czech, Vietnamese, some people in Africa.

In the last - “other languages” - Chechen, Ukrainian, as well as all the other former Soviet republics, and others.
