The Pentagon has confirmed that discussions with Ankara’s plans to deploy on Turkish territory two radars in a phased deployment of a missile defense system in Europe. Previously, Turkey was called as a possible site for missile deployment, but in the very Ankara refuted this information.
Turkey is considered as an option for placement of two missile defense radar, confirmed the U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates, noting the unique geographical location of the member countries of NATO.
According to the minister, at present negotiations on the participation of Turkey in terms of the phased deployment of missile defense and the possibility of installation on its territory of two radars are continuing, reports World Bulletin.
