Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said that at the Munich security conference failed to reach a compromise on the issue of creating a unified system of European missile defense.
On his page on Twitter Rogozin quoted NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen that the alliance will continue to develop missile defense system because of its leadership “feels a great responsibility to protect populations against missile threats.”
In response, Rogozin said, “Well, we also feel a responsibility to protect our people from your missile threat and create a robust aerospace defense.”
The Russian authorities are seeking the right to participate in the resulting U.S. and NATO missile defense system and require a legal guarantee that the system will not be directed against it. Washington says about the impossibility of such steps.
