After a collision with many dead : China wants to resolve the border dispute with India through talks

After the fatal clashes between Chinese and Indian soldiers in the Himalayas, the two nuclear powers are trying to settle the border dispute through "diplomatic and military" channels, Beijing said. Zhao Lijian, a spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, said on Wednesday, according to the state-run newspaper "Global Times".

As on the previous day, Zhao Lijian reiterated the Chinese version of the events that the clashes occurred after Indian forces advanced to the Chinese side of the border. The spokesman again did not provide any information on whether there were Chinese victims.

At least 20 Indian soldiers were killed in the clash between Chinese and Indian troops on the disputed border Monday night. 17 of them died after they were seriously wounded in the incident and were exposed to temperatures below zero and high altitude, an Indian army spokesman said on Tuesday evening.

More than 43 Chinese soldiers were seriously injured or killed, wrote the Indian news agency ANI, citing circles in the Indian government. China has not confirmed this information.

It is said to be the first deaths in decades on the controversial border of the two neighboring countries with the largest populations in the world, as reported by Indian media. (dpa)
