What is PVR cinema

Multiplex cinema chain PVR Cinemas (Priya Village Roadshow) recently announced the launch of its Private Viewing Cinema in select hotels in India.

Gautam Dutta, CEO of PVR Cinemas, said in a statement:

"We want to introduce new and innovative solutions that will bring audiences back to theaters with the same confidence and excitement as before."

PVR was founded in 1997 and operates a cinema circuit consisting of 845 screens at 176 properties in 71 cities in India and Sri Lanka. PVR Cinemas serves over 100 million customers each year. It offers several formats including Premium screen category (Director’s Cut), Gold Class, Saphir, IMAX, 4DX, P. [XL], Playhouse and PVR Onyx.

"We are committed to making our viewers safer in the cinema and we will be diligent and relentless without making any effort to ensure this," said Gautam.

The Private Viewing Cinema service offers enhanced guest security protocols, personalized services, a menu made to order, a dedicated manager and guest exclusivity.

The entertainment industry is one of the hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. However, entrepreneurs in the cinema industry are confident of getting back into business once things get back to normal.

During a previous conversation with Your history Shradha Sharma, founder, chairman and managing director of PVR Ajay Bijli had said, “I trust the fact that going out is an innate human nature and 10 weeks of ineligibility cannot change that. We're all so restless going out now. "

Co-founder of BookMyShow Ashish Hemrajani had mentioned that the cinema offers an escape from reality - from the home and the environment, and that will lure the Indians back to the theater.

At the beginning of last month, Inox films had also announced the launch of its private screening services. It allows customers to book an entire theater for Rs 2,999.
