Why is Real Madrid fighting this season

Schalke 04 allegedly had Raul in their sights as a coaching candidate

Relegated Schalke 04 has allegedly envisaged a sonorous solution for the coaching position during the current season: like Spanish media, including AS, report, the Royal Blues are said to have dealt with a return from Raul. The former star striker is currently the coach of Real Madrid's second team and is fighting for promotion to the second division.

Raul played for Schalke between 2010 and 2012 and shot himself into the hearts of the fans with dream goals during this time. The Spaniard scored 40 goals and prepared 21 goals in 98 competitive games. He had previously won the Champions League three times and the Spanish championship six times with Real Madrid.

Schalke: Five coaches in one season

Recently, there had been a rumor that Schalke, despite all the public statements that they wanted to go to the second division with Grammozis, could consider another coaching change after this season. However, Grammozis could have strengthened his position through the 4: 3 against Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday.

However, Raul's return to Germany doesn't have to be off the table. Because Eintracht Frankfurt should also deal specifically with Raul as the successor to the outgoing Adi Hütter. The Hessians should according to information from AS have even sent two club representatives to Spain to present the project to the 43-year-old.

For Raul, however, there could be a much more attractive alternative from the summer. Because according to a report by the radio station Onda Cero, the goal and SPOX Real Madrid's current coach Zinedine Zidane has told his players that he will be leaving the club after the season. The name Raul is considered a logical candidate for a successor to the French starter coach.
