What is a moral choice

A moral choice

PRESS NOTE

A MORAL DECISION is a subtle and moving drama about guilt and responsibility, honor and conscience, loss and grief, which combines a personal tragedy with the complex power structures of Iranian class society. Due to the accident caused by a third party, the worlds of a wealthy doctor and a simple working-class family collide. In the end, everyone is both a perpetrator and a victim.

A MORAL DECISION is the second feature film by filmmaker Vahid Jalilvand, born in Tehran in 1976, for which he also wrote the screenplay with Ali Zarnegar. They succeed in a brilliantly played mixture of psychological drama with thriller elements and socially realistic society portrait, which is the outstanding status of Iranian film in world cinema alongside works by directors such as Asghar Farhadi (NADER UND SIMIN - EINE TRENNUNG, THE SALESMAN) and Jafar Panahi (TAXI TEHERAN, THREE FACES) proves again.

Celebrated its world premiere A MORAL DECISION at the Venice International Film Festival, its German premiere at the Hamburg Film Festival. The film has won numerous awards, including Best Director and Best Actor (Navid Mohammadzadeh) in Venice, the Jury Prize and the Fipresci Prize at the Thessaloniki Film Festival, and Best Director at the Chicago International Film Festival.
