Corona test (RT-PCR) for entry into the Canary Islands

To enter the Canary Islands is now a Corona test necessary. The Canarian law of December 9, 2020, which allowed entry with an antigen test, was overturned by the court on December 18, 2020. The court ruling is published here. Now it is clear that the entry into the Canary Islands according to the Spanish immigration lawonly with PCR test (or the Spanish TMA test) is possible. The PCR test may not be more than 72 hours old when entering the country. Since December 10, 2020, it can also be presented in German. The PCR test is compulsory for all travelers aged 6 and over.

According to the Spanish immigration law, the PCR test result must include the following information:

  • Your first and last name
  • Your passport or ID card number (please use the same ID number when applying for the QR code)
  • The date of the corona test
  • The identification and contact details of the laboratory
  • The test technique used (RT-PCR)
  • The test result (this must negative so that you can travel to the Canary Islands)

By the way: If you do not have a vaccination certificate (at least 14 days fully completed Covid vaccination) or a recovery certificate, you will also need it for the return trip to Germany a corona test if you are traveling by plane. You have to do this in the Canary Islands before entering Germany. You can find more information and addresses in our overview of Corona test options in the Canary Islands.
