Traveling in times of Corona. Is that still ethically justifiable at all? We think so. If we all follow the guidelines of the respective countries. Canaries, Madeira, Namibia and even Bali are possible. And other places like that Azores, Guadeloupe, Reunion Island and Martinique. The Coronavirus has us under control more than ever. Now of course we all have the same questions: Can I still travel at all? How are the Christmas holidays 2020 going? Can I already book for the Easter holidays 2021? Which country can I enter without quarantine, where do I have to go to quarantine and how long?

There is definitely a ray of hope: in some countries the situation is so good that they are not even considered a risk area. We'll show you which countries you can currently still travel to.

⭐ Where can you travel within Germany?

In our opinion, you can currently speak Germany cross off your list.

You can only travel for professional reasons. And here, too, we recommend that you read the terms and conditions in the respective city or town beforehand.

We were recently in Düsseldorf and there was a mask requirement in the entire city. Depending on the destination, there are different everywhere Contact restrictions and Curfews or Night time regulations. The Christmas markets in Germany will also fall flat in 2020.

Still: We don't give up hope and think that one can from June 2021 can travel again. A summer vacation will certainly be possible in 2021. Different from normal, but at least. These numbers show the people who tested positive and say nothing about the current state of the situation (So ​​those who have recovered from Corona are not taken into account here).

Spain has been classified as a risk area nationwide. However, entry into Spain from all EU and Schengen-associated states is generally possible.

A state of alarm was declared for all of Spain on October 25, 2020 by Real Decreto 926/2020, which was extended to May 9, 2021. The alarm status enables the autonomous communities to impose night curfews, depending on the infection situation, to limit meetings to a number of people and to enforce movement restrictions for particularly affected areas or the entire autonomous community. It is then not possible to enter these areas for tourist purposes, and transit to an unaffected area is still permitted.

Argentina reports 1.4 million numbers

To Denmark German tourists can currently no longer enter. Since October 29, 2020, all of Germany has been classified as a COVID-19 high-risk country (red).

For South Africa it will be difficult now. Europe does not want to allow any more flights into the country. So it will soon no longer be possible to travel to the country. Important: the Foreign Office warns against traveling to South Africa due to the increasing number of cases. South Africa is still classified as a risk area. When you come back, you have to be quarantined in Germany.

⭐ Which countries can you travel to despite Corona?

There are currently a few countries in Europe and around the world that you can travel to without any problems. In this article we will show you what these are. The Canary Islands, Madeira, South Africa, Namibia and even Bali (but for 560 euros) are doable.

Spain - Canary Islands

Spain has been severely affected by the pandemic. Only on the Canaries the infection rate is low. So you can fly to the Canary Islands without any problems. Of course you need a test. Which Canary Island is right for you? You can find out in our article about the Canaries.

On the Canaries Since November 14, 2020, all visitors who are at least six years old (including those arriving from a non-risk area or from mainland Spain) who want to stay in a tourist accommodation facility (hotel, holiday apartment, holiday home) must report a negative at the reception Present test result for COVID-19. The test must not have been performed more than 72 hours ago

In the Canary Islands, both antigen tests and PCR tests are allowed. The Canary Islands are exempt from the national emergency. So there is too no curfew at night. Important: a mask is required everywhere in the Canary Islands.

Important: Since December 20th, the Canary Islands are again considered a risk area. This means that you have to be quarantined after your trip to Germany.

Portugal - Madeira and Azores

Portugal is considered a risk area. However, there are no entry restrictions for Germans arriving from Germany by air or land.

The Azores are also now a perfect travel destination because they are not considered a risk area.

When entering by plane from the mainland to the Azores a negative PCR test must be presented that was carried out no more than 72 hours before departure. Only children under the age of 12 are exempt from this. If you stay longer than seven days, another test should be carried out on the sixth day after the first test. For this purpose, travelers must contact the health authorities of the place of stay.

Important: mask compulsory applies throughout Portugal.

Africa - South Africa and Namibia

Even after Namibia it is possible until January 25, 2021 to enter the country with a negative PCR test. You don't have to be in quarantine. Namibia opens up fantastically beautiful sights that are worthwhile.

Indonesia Bali - only with Business E-Visa 211 A for 560 euros

Yes, you read correctly. Right now you can have your dream of winter Bali make it true. How it works? You need that Business E-Visa 211 A. You are no longer a tourist and can enter Bali. The visa is valid for 60 days and costs around 560 euros. You can then extend the visa for a further 4 months.

France - Corsica, Guadeloupe and Co

France is still a risk area. However, the travel warnings were for Brittany and Corsica as well as overseas territories Guadeloupe, Reunion Island and Martinique canceled.

Travelers to Guadeloupe, Martinique, St. Martin, St. Barthélemy and La Réunion must also present a negative PCR test result that is not older than 72 hours as well as a self-declaration that there are no symptoms.

Travelers to French Polynesia also need a negative PCR test result of 72 hours or less before departure and a self-declaration that they are symptom-free. Upon entry, travelers receive a test kit for a COVID-19 self-test, which must be carried out four days after entry.

Important: there are currently very strict regulations in France. You are only allowed to leave the house to see the doctor or to buy groceries.


Every EU citizen can currently travel to Croatia. The ferry traffic to the respective islands also takes place.

Upon entry, the travelers' contact details are registered for the duration of their stay in Croatia. To avoid long waiting times when crossing the border, the Croatian Ministry of the Interior recommends storing the contact and residence details online in advance.

Of course, you have to show a negative PCR test upon arrival, which must not be older than 48 hours upon arrival. You can also take a test upon entry. That costs 100 euros and until you have a result, you have to go into quarantine. You usually get a result within 24 hours.

According to information from the German Embassy in Ljubljana, German citizens are allowed to cross the land border between Slovenia and Austria only via the Karawanken tunnel and matchfield as well as via the border post Loibl tunnel happen.


You can enter Switzerland from Germany. However, you have to follow the guidelines. If you come from a risk area that Switzerland has defined, you have to be in quarantine.

For travelers from risk countries, there is a 10-day quarantine obligation. Travelers must go directly to their home or other suitable accommodation for 10 days after entering the country and report their entry to the responsible cantonal authority within two days.

Warning: in Switzerland, disregarding the law can be expensive. If you do not adhere to your quarantine, it costs 10,000 Swiss francs.


If you want to travel to Sweden, you can do so by plane directly via the capital Stockholm. You can take the car ferry from Travemünde or Rostock to Malmö and Trelleborg.

You do not have to show a test on entry, nor do you have to observe any other rules. There is also no mask requirement in Sweden. Museums as well as cafes and restaurants are open.

Quarantined countries


In Norway, the travel warning for the province of Vestland has been lifted. Returnees from this area no longer have to be quarantined after returning home. When entering Norway, however, you have to be in quarantine:

Proof of permanent residence or ownership in Norway is required upon entry. Otherwise, a 10-day quarantine must be spent in a quarantine hotel.

For the stay in the quarantine hotel, private individuals have to pay a daily contribution of NOK 500.


In Greece There is a lockdown on some islands, but if you follow the rules, you can travel to Greece. You have to follow the following rules. For example, it is important that you have registered using an online form (“Passenger Locator Form”, PLF) at least 24 hours before arrival. I recommend that you do this two days in advance so that you are guaranteed to receive the QR code. I was in Kefalonia in October and the QR code only came at midnight before departure.

According to an announcement by the Greek government, all people who enter Greece between December 18, 2020 and January 7, 2021 must also have a rapid test carried out upon arrival and be placed in a three-day quarantine. Further details are not yet known.

By land to Greece you have to go via the Bulgarian-Greek Kulata-Promachonas border crossing enter.


The Foreign Office advises against traveling to Italy. However, as an EU citizen, you can enter Italy until December 20th.
