In the United States posthumously awarded Nemtsov Freedom Award

The opposition politician Boris Nemtsov, was posthumously awarded the Prize of the American Freedom (Liberty Award). According to RIA Novosti. The ceremony was held on Wednesday, September 9, the International Republican Institute in Washington.

The award was given Nemtsov “a life dedicated to the promotion of democracy in Russia.” The award from the hands of Senator John McCain for the policy was a publicist and public figure Vladimir Kara-Murza Jr..

Also, winners of awards became Speaker of US House of Representatives, John Boehner and entrepreneur Mo Ibrahim from Sudan.

In July of this year, members of the European Parliament of Estonia Urmas Paet, Kaja Kallas and several of their colleagues decided to posthumously nominate Boris Nemtsov at a premium of Andrei Sakharov. When receiving the award, she will go to the policies established by the daughter of a fund that has been supporting civil society in Russia.

In 2009, the Freedom Prize with the wording “for the contribution to the development of Russian-American cultural relations” was awarded the director of the State Museum of Fine Arts Pushkin Irina Antonova. Earlier Freedom Prize awarded to Russian cultural figures such as Vasily Aksyonov and Mikhail Baryshnikov.
